Saratoga Bridges “Building for the Future”
Update
- Ground breaking for a new 21,000 sq. ft., $5 million building on Thursday, November 15 th
- Olsen Associates Architects, NYSERDA (NY State Energy Research and Development Authority) and Zandri Construction Corporation have worked together in the design stage to construct and operate a facility that we anticipate meeting Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Certification.
Some of the highlights include:
- 1 st floor will have office, clerical, meeting and conference rooms as well as lunchroom facilities
- Employees who are off-site in rented spaces will return to our main location
- Lower level designed to have spacious and well-equipped training suite that can be sub-divided into three classrooms or meeting rooms and records storage
- Once completed, we will renovate our present building for much needed classroom and clinical space
One of the aspects we are including in the building is the installation of a GeothermalHeatingSystem. We will have the ability to provide:
- Invaluable heat, air conditioning and water heating
- The most energy efficient, environmentally clean and ultimately cost-effective methods
- A reduction in the amount of pollution produced & reduced electricity consumption in the form of clean, renewable energy
- The ability to use 25% - 50% less energy than conventional systems, meaning a lower monthly energy bill yielding long-term cost savings
However, the GeothermalHeatingSystem is extremely expensive. Our Engineer has given us a quote of $500,000.00. We are asking that you consider making a donation to our Capital Campaign to be used specifically for the Geothermal Heating System. We are very proud that our new building will demonstrate our intention of promoting better health for our consumers, employees, the community and the environment. The impact of the project will have enormous benefit to our ability in providing the highest level of quality programs for the 775 individuals with developmental disabilities and their families we serve in Saratoga County.
