Workshop for Parents of Children in Preschool Special Education and Entering Kindergarten to be Held - March 29, 2010


The Early Childhood Direction Center of the Capital Region Presents:

“Transition from Preschool Special Education to School Age Services”

Presented by: Nancy Hampton – Parent Training Coordinator

Kindergarten Readiness, Committee on Special Education, Individualized Education Program, Declassification and related Services, Program Services and Options, and Least Restrictive Environment

Who should attend : Parents whose children are in preschool special education or receiving related services and will be transitioning into kindergarten or school age services.

When: Monday, March 29th, 2010 … 6:30pm – 8:30pm

Where: Saratoga Bridges – 16 Saratoga Bridges Blvd., Ballston Spa – building #2, exit 13S Northway, right at Nissan, go to end, building #2 is located to the back.

Autism Parent Seminar sponsored by Saratoga Bridges

Aiming to call greater attention to the ongoing and sometimes critical lifetime challenges of people living with autism, Harris Interactive, one of the leading consumer research companies in the U.S., conducted the “Living with Autism” study on behalf of Easter Seals, which Mass Mutual sponsored.

The study consisted of a 100-question multiple choice online survey that was completed between June 16, 2008 and July 17, 2008 by 1,652 parents of children with ASD aged 30 and younger. An additional 917 parents of children without any special needs 30 and younger also completed surveys and were included as a point of reference and comparison.

On Thursday, March 25, 2010, from 6pm – 8pm, at the New Administration building #2 located at the end, William Van Evera, CLU, ChFC, Special Care Planner with Mass Mutual, will present a program on the key results of this Living with Autism study that will focus on the following areas:

  • Independence
  • Financial well-being
  • Quality of Life
  • Housing Needs
  • Education
  • Health
  • Overview of Special Care program
