Restoration of Proposed Cuts — a Huge Victory!

On behalf of the 826 people with developmental disabilities and their families we serve and our 600 employees, we want to express our utmost appreciation to our Assemblymen Tony Jordan, John McDonald, Daniel Stec and Jim Tedisco, our Senators Hugh Farley and Kathleen Marchione and the entire NYS Legislature for their bipartisan support in restoring funding cuts to the state Office for People with Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD)!

As we are a family based and family governed organization, these proposed cuts would have definitely resulted in hardships for family members.   The restoration of the cuts ensures we will not be forced to dramatically reduce or eliminate employment, day or residential opportunities.  Our hard working staff members are professional and dedicated people who provide excellent services in our community.  The critical care they give will be sustained now without concern.

Our elected officials have proven to be a great Champion and Advocate for us.  We applaud their diligent efforts.  Please know that New York State’s community of people with developmental disabilities, their families and providers are extremely grateful to them.

With their help, we can continue ensuring the individuals we serve are able to realize their hopes and dreams as they work, shop, socialize and volunteer in the community.  We want to encourage they lead full, productive, contributing and enhanced lives.  Saratoga Bridges proudly make a difference by promoting their abilities and contributions while achieving our philosophy that states — every day is full of possibilities!
