Vocational Services Coach

The Vocational Services Coach provides job training and supervision to the people attending Community Based Pre-Vocations Services and Supported Employment. You will help people gain work readiness skills in the community.

As a Vocational Services Coach, you will be;

• Assisting the Pre-Voc Instructor and Program Coordinator to develop goals with the person receiving supports
• Providing 1 on 1 training and coaching to help the person gain work and interpersonal skills to meet the employers’ expectations for work performance, social interactions on the job, and monitoring/evaluating work performance (including role modeling/demonstration, shadowing/emotion support, systematic facing).
• Working with employers to address performance issues
• Mediating the needs of the person we are supporting and the employer during the training phase
• Coordinating and providing information necessary for the smooth transition of people to “follow along” services
• Developing and maintaining a collaborative working relationship with the person’s team to promote development and implementation of an effective support service plan
• Assisting in the; documentation of supports and services, annual employer surveys, job development, assessments, the completion of applications and setting up interviews when needed.
• Assisting in travel training when needed
• Establishes ongoing communication with Access-VR counselor and OPWDD Care Managers

To be an Eligible Candidate you must have:

• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• NYS Driver’s License
• High School diploma/GED
• Varied and successful work history in competitive employment settings
• One year of experience working with people with and Intellectual/Developmental disability strongly preferred
