Angela Charlap, Assistant Director of Residential Services

“When I describe Saratoga Bridges’ Residential Program, I emphasize that we encompass so much more than just ‘homes’ or a ‘places’ for people to live in.  Whether we are describing a supported apartment or a community-based home, our goal is to be incorporated as just another neighbor.

Our focus is to provide any and all supports that let our individuals succeed on their journey of finding what their purpose is in life. Our Residential Program and all our Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) work continuously to create opportunities for the people we support so they too can experience all aspects within their community.  We are always challenging our staff to find and seek out community connections and look for new volunteer initiatives for individuals or groups to pursue.

Once we identify what their interests are, we feel our role is to determine what skills are necessary for them to obtain.  We remain motivated to excel as opposed to limiting the scope of our individuals to achieve their dreams and be successful.

And yet, our exemplary, dedicated DSPs work tirelessly in light of the challenges we are facing as an agency of attracting new employees.  However, despite these circumstances we remain vigilant in our pursuit of excellence, making positive impacts and ultimately giving their lives more meaning!”
