VOICE! 11
On Thursday, July 30th, artists Erica, Sarah, Amanda and Shannon from Creative Endeavors Art Center attended the Voice! 11 Art Show opening reception at the Martin-Mullen Art Gallery at SUNY Oneonta. Accompanied by their staff Winnie Pino and Catherine Spaneas, they had a wonderful evening.
(Pictured left to right – Amanda, Erica, Sarah and Winnie) The ladies submitted 2 of their pieces and each had 2 chosen by a jury to be featured in the exhibit. It is evident that our artists continue to excel as their dedication and hard work has reaped results!
Erica won 3rd Place and received $200 for her acrylic painting ‘Twilight Ocean’. The jury stated, “Vibrant, great use of color. Movement in painting reflects emotion and energy of city life.”
Amanda was selected as Honorable Mention and received $100 for her mixed media piece ‘Peaceful Valley’. The jury remarked, “Soft use of color. Implied subject matter. Definitely peaceful. Expressive piece.”
As of that evening, Erica and Sarah both sold one piece and Shannon sold both her works.
In its 11th year, Voice! is hosted by The Arc Otsego as a means of celebrating the creative voices of artists with intellectual and other developmental disabilities from across New York State.
