Our individuals from Ballston Spa and Malta II Day Programs volunteered to help set up for a wonderful event that was held on August 5th — The 7th Annual Reception of Visión — “A look at life behind the scenes,” presented by the Saratoga County Economic Opportunity Council’s (EOC) Latino Community Advocacy Program (LCAP) held at The Rail Pavilion at the Saratoga Race Course. This festive multi-cultural event had entertainment by Garland Nelson, food, and drinks.

The highlight was the black and white photographs from the Latino community who have been participating in photography workshops. This year, Emma Dodge Hanson a local professional photographer, mentored them. They were asked to submit their best pieces to a juried panel of photographers and art professionals to showcase their experiences of living and working in the Saratoga Springs. The exhibit provided unique insight into a world that is largely inaccessible to the greater community. Following the reception, the photographs travel to venues throughout the capital region.

All proceeds collected support the LCAP which addresses the special needs of the Spanish-speaking immigrant population in Saratoga County. Their activities promote cultural understanding and recognize the positive contributions and traditions of immigrants in our communities. EOC’s bilingual staff provides assistance by facilitating communication and access to health, legal, and educational services.
